It’s April, the beginning of the 2nd quarter of the year, and where has the time flown? Honestly, I’m surprised, but I’m not surprised. I’ve been living the “funemployed” life for months, so my days have blended together. But no more! Even though it’s been a few months since the start of the year (oops), I’m returning to my 2023 resolutions.
I won’t be rewriting that post here, but you can read it or check out the pin I made for it (which is what I looked at to remind myself of my resolutions, haha). I have been slowly getting more into working on my resolutions, but not been dedicated enough to make any real progress. Like this post. While it is giving me the chance to check in, I am hoping and planning to be writing more frequently so there won’t be so much “dead air time” between posts.
Enough about that. Lately, I’ve been doing this unofficial freelance writer apprenticeship, which has been kicking my butt, let me tell you. Though it does have its perks, as one of my assignments right now is to write blog posts for this site. Giving me the chance to work on my own brand. This post is separate from that assignment, in case you were wondering.
No, I’m using that assignment to finally complete a goal that I’ve had for a couple of years now and that I’ve never accomplished: publish a blog post every day for a month. I almost made it back in November of 2021 (pretty sure), but the Thanksgiving holiday weekend (and my own lack of preparation) messed me up. I don’t regret it because family time is important, but I could have been better prepared. Oh well, that’s in the past, and now I can start again.
July is the goal month, and I have this quarter to write and schedule 31 unique, original posts for the month of July. It’s going to be great. I’ll have them all written (they are very much not written yet), with graphics and all the things ready to go for July 1st.
So that’s what’s been happening on the blog front, at least a sneak peek. Okay, a partial sneak peek. A partial update.
But what about the Disney Film Project? I haven’t posted an entry in MONTHS! Quite possibly over a year. Yeah, definitely over a year. I should have one ready to go soon, but part of the delay was that I started doing videos of the project on Tiktok. I possibly have mentioned this before, but in case I haven’t: Surprise!
Over time, I’ll be embedding the links to all of my DFP TikToks to their respective movie posts. I have a few already done, so you can start back at the beginning with me. The reason for the delay in posts, more than just the effort it takes to work on an individual DFP post (and the burnout recovery that I was in because of the high level of pressure I put on myself), was that I wanted to try to better catch up my video version of the DFP to the written version. And considering I’ll finish the 1960s by December of this year in video form, I’m getting closer and closer to the written version.
It does mean that I’ll need to work out how that future schedule will work out in creating both the video and written version, as once they sync up, I don’t want either to fall behind. But that’s something that I am learning how to do as I strive for a more productive life as a content creator and as a writer.
So stay tuned for my 31 Days of Blogging challenge in July, and stay tuned for more Disney Film Project updates. Thanks for sticking with me on this journey, and I can’t wait to show you what comes next!
