A long, long time ago (more than three years, but I think less than 5), I somehow came across Bookbub. I don’t remember if I was introduced to it by someone else or if an ad popped up, or if I saw a blog post about it. ‘Tis a mystery. But what isn’t a mystery is that I fell absolutely in love with Bookbub, which has become a bit of a problem.
What is Bookbub?
For those unfamiliar with Bookbub, it is a fabulous website and email service that provides a curated selection of discounted and FREE ebooks available through various retailers. Having a Kindle myself (the 4th Generation 2018 Kindle Paperwhite), I have Amazon listed as my retailer preference for my curated emails. That helps keep me from getting my hopes up about a discounted book only to find out that the deal is unavailable for Kindles.
When you create a free account, you can select how frequently you want the emails to come to your inbox (I get my emails daily) and create a curated list with specific genres and retailers. If you visit the website, you can see every genre and the deals available for every retailer. But it is also nice to know that you will get a personalized email with book deals matching your tastes.
Why did I call Bookbub an enabler?
Now, in yesterday’s post, I had called Bookbub an enabler of my addiction to acquiring books. This, this is true. It has become a daily ritual to check my Bookbub email and see what is currently available. There are some days where I only buy a few books and other days where I go on a shopping spree.
Depending on my finances, I will, from time to time, ban myself from buying new books. At least from buying discounted books. I almost always get books from the free section. The only times I don’t get any books, discounted or free, are when I look at the books offered in that day’s email, and they don’t fit my taste. It happens but not often enough to discourage me from continuing using the service.
I had also mentioned in yesterday’s post how I have over 3100 ebooks. I want to thank Bookbub for helping me reach that high number because that number would not be possible without it. Insert sarcasm here. As a side note, I use a similar site as well, but while I use it from time to time, Bookbub has become my mainstay for quickly finding deals on books. Not only that, but on the website itself, they provide space for consumers to leave reviews and have become one of my three central websites for leaving book reviews (the other two being Amazon itself and Goodreads). Would I recommend Bookbub to book lovers? Without a doubt, they’ve earned my trust.
