I’m writing this halfway through the month, and I’m not doing well regarding my reading list. I have seven books, but I’m only on the 2nd. I want to say that I should have done better earlier in the month, but this is where I’m at. Maybe it’s the number of books, the genres I’m choosing, or I’m just easily getting distracted. Whatever the case, I’m running out of time, so I need to step it up.
The first book was fine; the second is killing me.
I’ve shared my list before, but here’s what I’m reading this month:
- How I Magically Messed up my life in Four Freakin’ Days by Megan O’Russell
- Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott
- Cheater’s Game by Paul Levine
- Creativity, Inc. by Ed Catmull
- Attracting Aubrey by Avery Flynn
- Stories that Stick by Kindra Hall
- Pride of Honor by Andrea K. Stein
I should have known; I should have realized. Heck, I should have put Ivanhoe further back on the list. I knew it would be hard, that it would be a big difference from what I usually write.
Can it still be done? Yes
I do think I can still get the book list done. It’s going to be tough, but that’s the type of thing that drives me. Not that I like to do it all the time.
I’m tackling Ivanhoe this weekend once and for all
It’s Friday afternoon as I write this; I am going to tackle Ivanhoe this weekend and get that book done. (Editing Note: I did not, in fact, tackle Ivanhoe.) It’s been a bit harder to read than I thought, though I try to visualize it in my head. I’m using A Knight’s Tale for the visual part, but I don’t know much about the book, so I’m in a bit of a gray zone. Not that that hasn’t happened before, but because the story is set in the time of King Richard I and the language is very much out of my depth, it’s hard.
How will I approach the remaining books
Creativity, Inc and Stories that Stick are both ones that I think will take me a bit longer than the others, but If I can get through Ivanhoe, then I can get through them all. But seriously though, I’m going to make reading more of a priority.
What will I change for next month?
Ivanhoe isn’t going to be the last classic literature book I’ll be reading (I have a good number of them in my collection, though I can’t remember what all of them are). That being said, I am going to do better about judging how much I can handle, and what I want to handle for the month ahead. It’s one of my hardest things to do, because I want to read all the things.
Final Thoughts: Keep Reading
As I go through each month, I like that I’m reading different books, the majority being ones that are new to me. It’s all a drop in the bucket when compared to the overall book count, but it’s still progress. And I can check books off the TBR list. And that is worth all the things.
