Today was a really good day for me. I posted a new DFP video yesterday (I’ve embedded it on the movie review’s page, but you can also see it on TikTok here) about the 1963 movie Summer Magic. And I got a lot more likes on it than on recent DFP videos (and well over the 10% of likes to views), which was very encouraging. Even though low views won’t keep me from posting, I’m having fun seeing the amount of videos grow because it keeps me going. It’s like with my writing videos; I like seeing the number on the video increase as I add each new video. The video that goes along with this particular post is New Writing Habit Day 22.
Thinking Back
I think back to when I would create a video only once a week, and that only goes back to when I started the DFP videos. Before then, there were months that I wouldn’t create a thing. I’m still learning and improving, but I can really feel the difference as a creator. Not that it’s getting easier, but I’m getting more used to what I’m doing, which makes it seem like it’s getting easier.
I like the feeling that I’m improving, and I like seeing the visual trail I’ve left for myself. When I scroll down through my TikTok page, I like seeing all of the videos that I’ve done so far, and seeing how far I’ve come. As of today, I’ve created 66 videos for the DFP; I did 30 videos for the Kdrama recap video I did for Alchemy of Souls. Then as I mentioned earlier, I’m on Day 22 of my daily writing habit (Day 83 as of July 9th) and then are several one-off videos that I’ve made. Some of those are tied to the DFP movies, but basically, they are all one-off videos. That’s over 110 videos, and I’m not stopping anytime soon.
Update: As of July 9th, that is 74 videos (DFP); 30 videos (Kdrama reacts); and 83 videos (New Writing Habit) for a grand total of 187, not including any one-off videos.
I am nothing if not grateful for the technology that allows me to create in my free time.
- I’m able to film every day for my writing videos.
- I can access the movies I need to watch for the DFP, and thanks to Disney+, a lot of the videos I’ve seen so far, I haven’t had to rent, which keeps the costs low. Certainly lower than when I started the blog post version of the project, pre-Disney+. I had to rent the majority of the 1950s movies (or up until wherever I reached when Disney Plus launched in November of 2019)
- I can find the photos I need online to accompany the movies I’ll be discussing when I film my DFP videos.
- Finally, I do have to give a shout-out to TikTok. They made it so easy for me to start making videos when I was ready. I don’t think I would have started when I did if I only had Youtube as an option. I do plan on posting on Youtube, but that’s a future goal.
And most importantly, I am grateful to my Heavenly Father for all the help He has provided me as I pursue my content creator dreams. I wouldn’t have been able to get so far without Him.
What’s something that you are grateful for?
