Tomorrow after work starts my Thanksgiving weekend! I’m so excited because I get to visit my family for the weekend, which means free food, free laundry, and lots of fun. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays of the year because of the fun times I’ve had with my family (and the food…can’t forget about the food!). But when I’m not having fun with the family or falling into a Post-Thanksgiving meal food coma, what am I going to do?
I will still be writing my daily posts (the month stops for no one), and I’m going to be organizing myself online. I mentioned before about getting organized when it comes to my plans to read more next year. But what I’m not sure came across was how much I love to get organized. Or at least, how much I love the idea of getting organized. Because I do.
Take my master book list, for example. It’s been months since I’ve updated that list with the number of kindle books I’ve added to the list. It’s way past time to update that list and make sure all of the books are organized so that I can keep track.
That’s not the only thing that I will be planning to organize this weekend.
Just as I’m addicted to buying ebooks, I also am a little addicted to online courses. I have dozens that I have signed up for over the years that I haven’t taken, but I keep signing up for more because I believe that continuing to learn is a must. That being said, I’d like to think that I have a better mindset now to work through and appreciate the courses I’ve signed up for. So this weekend, I’m organizing a master list so that I have a central place to keep track of which class I’m currently working on and which course would be next.
And if that wasn’t enough, I am finally tackling my bookmarks. Now, this might not seem like a monumental task, but I have bookmarks beyond bookmarks saved in Chrome. Except for a few specific bookmark folders, I have no idea what I still have bookmarked and how many of the links still work!
So am I going to turn on a Christmas movie while I tackle this?
Absolutely. Am I going to probably spend more time reading whatever is bookmarked rather than moving quickly through the list? Most likely. But it’s okay. I’ll create some basic label folders for what I want to keep; that way, I at least can get rid of what doesn’t work anymore. Then maybe I’ll be able to find saved articles again (at least the ones I haven’t saved to Evernote).
So that’s my plan for this weekend. Obviously, the holiday comes first, family time comes first, and food comes first, but I’ll try to get as much of this done as possible. It’s all part of my hope that by getting myself organized, I will be able to truly enjoy stories both leisurely and for when I am working on a writing project. Too often has guilt made an appearance when I read a webtoon or watched a show. I’d like to put an end to that as much as possible.
