A momentary pause in our scheduled programming! A crisis occurred earlier today that ended up taking most of my afternoon away from me. I’m talking I even used PTO hours to leave early from work to handle this crisis. For now, I’m not going to say what happened. It doesn’t involve my health or my family, so for now, it’s enough to say that a crisis arose, and I’m now taking care of it.
Originally, I would be writing the 2nd part of my Book reviews mini-series, well, thing, that I started yesterday. But to be perfectly honest, I don’t have it in me to write about that today. Not if I want to do that post and that mini-series justice. So instead, I’ll use this time to write casually (and super briefly) about plot twists since that is what happened to me today.
Plot twists are a necessity in the majority of stories. I would be hard-pressed to find a story that doesn’t even have a tiny little twist. Because it’s not that stories need to have massive twists, but every tale needs conflict in some form. Without it, where’s the motivation to reach the protagonist’s goal?
And I get that. I do. And I would even go so far as to say that those twists are what keep reality interesting. But does it have to be my life that gets a bump in the road? I’m only half-joking with that question. I don’t mind the occasional twist if it can be something small and manageable. Not one that springs up out of nowhere.
Whatever is going on in my offline life does affect what shows I watch or what books/webtoons I read. Because if I’ve got my hands full, then I want something simple, something light. Love O2O is a good example. Once the main couple gets together, they stay together for the remainder of the show. There is still other obstacles that happen, but nothing super significant. It’s relaxing, calming to watch that show (partly because it is ABSOLUTELY CHEESY), and one of my go-to shows for that very reason.
Now, tomorrow for real, please expect the continuing post in my Reading/Book reviews mini-series. I should have a title for that, but I think it’s just my “2022 is my year of reading” or something like that. I could look back and double-check, but where’s the fun in that? Lies, I did check. “2022 will be my year of reading, Part 2” will be online tomorrow so be sure to check back in!
