A Nonsensical Newspaper Story
She and It, a story about a mysterious entity and a unique girl. This story was put together through random newspaper clippings.
Day 1: Harsh winds are blowing and it was at the bottom of a pit. But this was only after. If It is consumed, it will be nearly impossible to recognize the transfer of power.
Day 2: Scrambling to reach it, he was expected to appear concerned. Picking through the unknown, feeling for it in the tight place.
Day 3: It laughed at him, a reaction, a rare moment embarrassing but clear. Now before he stumbled to it, it proved to be the more remarkable one.
Day 4: It reveled as he, who would carry the emotional burden of that encounter, moved away in shock. Only this year did it arrive and already it had an impact to change things.
Day 5: With no end in sight to his shame, he left. It would stay in the pit alone. Six months go by.
Day 6: She embarked on the search with urgency and intensity, as it was not to again be left alone. After he found it and failed, leaders reported the data so for those searching, they have been trying to stop it and anyone in the way.
Day 7: Three days. Enough for it to make a new space to hide. She forged on, way into the dark. She was blind-sided when it came out. It made over to her as she sat back in shock.
Day 8: A high-stakes row broke out far from It. He said she’d fail as he had. However, no information for that had been declared. The battling commenced as the mercy of it was all she had to survive.
Day 9: A watch began near the spot where it had last been seen. Meanwhile, in the mountains, it watched to avoid any new efforts to find it. An emergency response team arrived at the mountain to lead in its recovery.
Day 10: A female voice echoed as she surfaced. Hours later, her experience was shared. “Something happened to her,” he said as she expressed sympathy but said she wasn’t convinced It could be slowed down. He viewed the testimony as an “at all costs” effort to hold out for It.
Day 11: Short on experience, He dealt for just this kind of spot. After “giving up” in the pit, he had already acquired a lead. She went by. “You’re just trying to slow the situation down,” He thought, after She was gone.
Day 12: He was furious. Yet he feared that images of him sharply questioning Her would be lethal, so He mutely abstained from challenging Her. Yet the stakes here are immense. Despite laws declaring It illegal, He and others were fighting to purge It and Its power from the mountain. But It was already out.
Day 13: She had not been on anyone’s radar before this. A loner, she had played a role in recruiting for teams, but had left because the programs were found to have used ineligible players. But only It mattered now. The power transfer had finished.
Day 14: Days after, a showdown over It seemed likely to occur. In what’s been a deadly serious process, the normally meticulous lawmakers were planning to begin reading the report early Thursday. That report was arriving, as the political stakes of the fight were at an all-time high.
Day 15: After he delivered her from the mountain, she was in prison. He, with days of unprecedented nastiness, didn’t hold anything back. Her “gilded cage”, which is what her prison really was, kept her isolated. Silence was her only weapon.
Day 16: As they competed for It, more and more went into the mountain. He watched as the findings reflected what He already suspected: It was hiding somewhere else.
Day 17: Months go by. There has been no closure, at least officially. Authorities say they will likely never be able to determine what It was. But that did not stop Him. Indeed, He still had Her in His “care”. He moved recently, still searching for It, taking Her with Him. She stayed silent but had a secret. She knew where It was.
Day 18: Whether behind closed doors or not, She said nothing. Inside her mind, She was running at full speed. Each day She stayed with Him was 1 day closer to Him just ending Her in frustration.
Day 19: His easy smile said it all. It was near by. “I know how hard it is to get to this point and I’m proud to be part of this group,” He imagined saying to others in their society. He would have Its power for His own.
Day 20: The society was called The Institute. Half of the members were Hunters and the other half were Finders. The difference was that Hunters were much more destructive.
Day 21: The annual society gala was a few days away. As one of the leading Hunters, He was exceptional but He fit some at-risk categories. By the time He went to the top, His path was closely watched by His superiors. They knew He had His hands on her still.
Day 22: Emotionally and mentally, He was grinding Her down. Or so He thought. She locked Herself away, deep inside Her mind. The gala was Her chance to run.
Day 23: As one of the leaders, He chose the mountain as the location for the Gala. He said He had a surprise for everyone.
Day 24: He was giving members a hint that “a new way of doing things” is approaching. In comparing the changes to what may come, at least a handful of superiors were not as excited and anxious as the minor members.
Day 25: With a lot of reasons why She stayed, only one really mattered. She would force Him to face what He had done. She had Its’ power coursing through Her veins and She was ready to use it.
Day 26: He bullied, mocked, threatened, sometimes assaulted. That was His idea of a successful hunt. She would be His victory seal.
Day 27: The night of the gala had arrived. The foot of the mountain was lit up as the Society members gathered. He had Her at His side, awaiting the big finale.
Day 28: “Call It NOW!” He said, as He threw Her on the ground. “People just don’t get it. This is MY moment.” His back was to Her, so He didn’t see Her stand, Her skin glowing.
Day 29: Many will never believe His denials or continue to see Him as the privileged, arrogant, self-righteous person He revealed Himself to be. He is no more than dust now. that night, even as She glowed, He stood, eyes on Her. As Her power flowed, so did the stones on the mountain.
Day 30: In the days after, the Society had fallen. The aftermath was such that in the short and long term, there was no point. She was home again, living a peaceful life. As She walked down Her street, in Her reflection, She had the faintest glow.
